Carbon Footprint

Many of us have heard the term “Carbon Footprint”.  What exactly does this mean? Well I Googled it (who doesn’t love Google and the wealth of information that you can find?!!) Here is a definition:

Carbon Footprint:

The total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2).

Basically what this means in the most simple of terms is that we are using a whole lot of carbon dioxide to get what we need in terms of supplies whether this means food, home goods, travel, etc. This is yet another reason to do what you can to “shrink” your footprint. Of course we are all human and being good 100% of the time is not always feasible but it is in the little changes that can add up to BIG results!!

Check out the following calculator and see how you rate and then see what you can do to make little changes.

Simple ideas: change to CFL lighting, eat less meat, unplug appliances when not in use, compost. There are countless ideas. Little changes that can make HUGE differences.
